Summary:Â
These videos were recorded during the LEEP (Local Energy Efficiency Partnerships) High-Performance Walls for Renovation: Larsen Truss case study session hosted by Retrofit Canada and ENBIX in collaboration with NRCan in April 2025 in Airdrie, Alberta. The series was designed for engineers, architects, consultants, builders, renovators, energy advisors, HVAC professionals, electricians, and building officials in Alberta.
The Larsen Truss, originally developed in the 1980s as a labour-saving alternative to double-stud walls, has evolved into various modified versions using wood girters or other techniques, all aiming for continuous exterior insulation and reduced thermal bridging. Watch the video to learn about two case studies using the Larsen Truss method – one in Quebec and one in Alberta.
Stephen Magneron from Home Sol Buildings Solutions Inc. presented the LEEP workshop, followed by a presentation on CEIP from Shannon Giebelhaus from Alberta Municipalities.
