Join Alberta Ecotrust Foundation | ENBIX for “Building Envelope Fundamentals”. This workshop will explore the basics of the building envelope. The building envelope covers all of the major components that separate the outside from the inside, these include walls, basements, windows, and ceiling. Building envelopes perform several different functions including air barriers, vapor barrier, thermal barrier, and weather barrier.
This session will focus largely on residential applications but many learnings will be applicable to other applications.
Topics will include:
- Airtightness
- Insulation systems and options
- Under-slab insulation
- Thermal bridging
- Air leakage testing
This session is presented by Alberta Ecotrust Foundation via the Emissions Neutral Building Information Exchange (ENBIX). ENBIX is supported by the Codes Acceleration Fund from NRCan.
Additional support has been provided by the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley.
