SUMMARY:Transition Planning Now Workshop: Calgary
DESCRIPTION:Canada’s building sector is entering a decisive decade marked by accelerating climate targets\, evolving energy and emissions codes\, and growing expectation from investors\, occupants\, and regulators. Practitioners are increasingly being asked not only to design and deliver compliant projects\, but to help building owners plan and implement credible\, long-term transition pathways toward low-carbon\, high-performance buildings. Transition Planning Now offers a four-hour\, in-person\, practitioner-focused workshop delivered by RDH Building Science on behalf of the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC). The workshop leverages CAGBC’s new Carbon Transition Planning Guide to help industry practitioners understand how to plan and implement effective transition plans that support the highest tiers of the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) and other regional high-performance building codes\, regulations\, and programs that drive emissions reductions. \nLearning Objectives\n\nMarket Drivers and Risks: Evaluate the influence of evolving market drivers and risk factors alongside jurisdictional requirements (such as NECB and building performance standards) on project strategy and long-term asset value.\nGuide Application: Work through the Carbon Transition Planning Guide’s four-stage process—preparation\, plan development\, implementation\, and post-retrofit optimization using technical exercises and real-world scenarios.\nStakeholder Engagement: Practice methods for engaging owners and project teams\, surfacing priorities\, and integrating diverse needs into project planning.\nProject Integration: Explore strategies for integrating climate adaptation and resilience measures into transition plans\, aligned with capital renewal cycles\, funding opportunities\, and certification pathways.\nCase Studies and Peer Exchange: Examine examples from a range of building types and ownership models and discuss practical solutions with peers.\n\nTickets – $150.00 \nDURATION: 8 hours\nREGISTRATION & BREAKFAST: 8:00am Mountain Standard Time\nMAIN PROGRAM: 9:00am – 3:00pm Mountain Standard Time\nCOFFEE & NETWORKING: 3:00pm – 4:00pm Mountain Standard Time\nLOCATION: Meeting Room 116M – BMO Centre.

SUMMARY:Low Carbon Transition Planning: CAGBC & REALPAC Guidance
DESCRIPTION:Canada’s building sector is at the halfway point of a decisive decade. Evolving energy codes\, climate-related risks\, and decarbonization targets are reshaping how building owners and investors plan\, operate\, and protect asset value. \nThe Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC)\, together with project partner Real Property Association of Canada (REALPAC)\, will officially launch two new industry-driven resources designed to help existing building owners navigate this transition with confidence: \n\nCAGBC’s Zero Carbon Transition Planning Guide\, and\nREALPAC’s Climate-Related Risk Playbooks for Office\, Retail\, Industrial\, and Multi-Unit Residential Buildings.\n\nThis webinar offers an exclusive first look at how these resources were developed through extensive industry consultation\, what they include\, and how they can be applied to real-world asset management and investment decisions. \nParticipants will gain a clear understanding of why transition planning is a business imperative and how these tools support compliance with the regional high-performance requirements. \nThe session will also preview CAGBC’s and REALPAC’s upcoming in-person Transition Planning Now workshops rolling out across Canada\, designed to help owners\, managers\, and project teams apply these tools in practice. \n\nLearning objectives:\n\nUnderstanding the need for transition planning\nUnderstanding the tools available to help strategically plan decarbonization interventions for your assets and portfolio\n\nPanel Speakers\n\nLaurna Strikwerda: Director\, Project Development and Research\, CAGBC\nMark Hutchinson – Senior Vice President\, Green Building Programs Innovations\, CAGBC\nDarryl Neate – Vice President\, Sustainability\, REALPAC\nBailey Brown – Principal\, Specialist\, RDH\nJani Loots – Vice President\, Climate and Decarbonization Practice Co-Lead\, JLL\n\n Webinar sponsor\nThis webinar is delivered with support from Natural Resources Canada’s Codes Acceleration (CAF) Fund.
